ATHLETICS

Evangelos has been playing water polo since the age of seven. He first began playing at his school’s club team and two years later tranferred to the “Amarousion Triton” club team. It was his first serious engagement with the sport.  In 2019, he joined “ROI” Water Polo Team and has been playing the point position as a main player for the starting team. Evangelos from the age of thirteen has played in games, not only in his age group, but also U16 and U18. He has also played several games at the men’s level. In 2022 his team placed fourth at the Water Polo Junior Nationals.  Additionally, for the past three years (2021-2023) he has been called to participate at the National Team’s Training Camps. Evangelos is a dedicated team player always working to improve and reach the highest level of performance.

PERSONAL

Evangelos was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He lives in Dionysos, Attica and goes to “Arsakeio Tositseio” of Ekali High School. His father, Konstantinos Agapiou is a Captain of the Merchant Marines on Superyachts. He played volleyball at the A1 and A2 level for several years. His love for sports in general planted the seed for Evangelos to turn towards athletics from a very young age. His mother, Nadia Pappas, born and raised in Michigan USA, is a dentist and moved to Greece in 1995 after studying at the University of Michigan. His brother, Spyro Agapiou, also played Water Polo in the past, and is now studying medicine at the European University of Cyprus.  Evangelos has dual citizenship and travels to the United States whenever he has the chance where he has many relatives. Evangelos is aspiring for an opportunity to study and play Water Polo at the high collegiate level in the United States, and for this reason he tries to stay focused and dedicated both athletically and academically. He loves both countries equally and would love to see himself selected to play one day for the US or Greek National Team.
