ATHLETICS

George started swimming in 2009 at the age of five. He specializes in Freestyle, Backstroke and IM. He has been racing since a very young age and always tries to push his limits. Despite the difficulties he faced with Covid-19, he never stopped practicing and managed to set new personal records every season.

2023-2024: George finished 5th in the 200m Free at Nationals, 6th in the 100m Back, and was Runner-up Champion in the Men’s 400 Free relay. 
2022-2023:
George came 3rd in the 200m free at the Men’s Nationals, and at Junior Nationals he won the 200m Free and was Runner-up Champion in the 100m Back and 100m Free.
2021-2022: George qualified for the Multination Junior Swim Meet with the Junior National Team and finished 7th in the 200m Free. In the same season he qualified for the High School Worlds finished 4th in 200 free and were runner-ups in the 400m Free Relay. That same year he was the National Champion in the 100m Back at Junior Nationals, was runner-up Champion in the 200m Back, and came 3rd in the 200m Free.
2020-2021: George broke 2 Junior Nationals Records in the 50 and 200m Back SCM, and won the Bulgarian Championship in the 200m Free. He qualified for the European Junior Championship and finished 7th in the Boys’ 800m Free Relay. That same year he was the National Champion in the 200m Free and came 2nd in the 100m Back and 3rd in the 200m Back.
2019-2020: George broke 2 Junior Nationals Records in the 100m and 200m Back SCM and won Junior Nationals in the 200m back along with a 3rd place in the 50m Back.

PERSONAL

George was born and raised in a small town in Northern Greece called Veroia. He moved to Thessaloniki at the age of 16, so he can swim in better facilities and study at a better school. He has an older sister, Ioulia, (27 y.o.), and an older brother, Michael, (22 y.o.) who is also a swimmer. His father, Petros, is an entrepreneur and has his own business. His mother, Vaia, is working in the family business. George’s goals in the USA is to combine high level studies while doing the sport that he loves, and also explore his career opportunities in America. He believes that he still has a lot to give in the sport and always works hard to achieve his goals.
