ATHLETICS

Iris is a holder of 29 Junior National medals from individual events and relays since 2019. She swims at a high level (625-674 Fina points) at 9 different events (50 to 400 freestyle, 50 to 200 backstroke, 100 fly and 200 IM). She loves relay races and as a member of the Deree College Swimming Team she broke 3 National Records one of which remains unbroken. Iris is also known for having great physical attributes for her age (height & arm span).

2023-2024: Iris in her 1st Year of swimming for Panathinaikos Swimming Team with a new coach, she managed to improve her times in a couple regional meets and participate in 2 A Finals at the Women’s National championship in the 100m & 200m Backstroke. She finished the year with 4 personal bests at Nationals, winning 2 individual medals (1 silver in the 200m Back and 1 bronze in the 50m Free) and helped her Team get 3 gold medals at Relays.
2022-2023: Iris, after overcoming an injury, came 2nd at the 200m back and won 3 more medals at relays during her Junior Nationals. A year with obstacles but with a good ending helped her strengthen her character.
According to Iris: “ It was a year that I learnt that no matter what the circumstances are, I have to face the difficulties, believe in myself and never give up”
2021-2022: Iris won 2 medals at the 50m and 100m free and 3 more at relays during Junior Nationals. A season highlight was when she won the 50m freestyle in the final c (Juniors) at the Acropolis Swim Open (International Meeting). The biggest moment for her was when she won her first medal in the Women’s category at the National Winter Championship as a member of the 400m free relay.
2020-2021: Even though it was the year of Covid-19 and faced a lot of difficulties, she tried her best and won 3 medals at the 50, 100 and 200m free at Junior Nationals and 3 more medals at relays.
2019-2020: Iris won 3 medals at the 50m free, 100m free and 200m back during Juniors Nationals. She also won 3 gold medals with her relay team, breaking 3 National Records competing as a first-year swimmer at Junior Nationals.

PERSONAL

Iris was born in Athens in 2007. She has been swimming since she was 4 years old. She has tried a variety of sports, but swimming won her heart. For her, swimming is not just a sport but also a lifestyle considering that she comes from an athletic family. Her father is a gymnast and a great volleyball player, as does her sister who played volleyball for the Women’s Category.
