Melina started swimming in 2010 at the age of 3. She specializes in freestyle sprint events (50m, 100m). She was born and raised in a town in Central Greece called Larissa, but at the age of 12 she moved with her mother to Athens, in which they live to this day. She is an only child. Her mom is an urban and spatial planning manager at Mytilineos Company and Melina is currently attending her International Baccalaureate at a private High School in Athens called CGS-Costeas Geitonas School.

Melina has also attended in 2023 the Oxford Summer School for ages 16-18 to explore her interest in Introduction to Experimental Psychology. In the past years Melina has also participated in 4 MUNs, with the best being lasts year’s which was organised in Athens by Yale university and lasted three days in March 2023.

She is fluent in English and German, besides Greek, and is currently learning Spanish. In her free time, she often volunteers for various organizations and she states: “it’s the experiences that I gain every time and the love from others that I receive that drives me to keep doing it”. She loves travelling and visiting her international friends in other countries, as it helps her expand her horizons and explore other cultures.
