ATHLETICS

Sofia mainly competes in breaststroke sprints (50, 100, 200 meters) but is also very talented in butterfly. She has been breaststroker since her first year as a swimmer. She has had many ups and downs in the past two years, but the love she has for the sport kept her going and didn’t let her give up.
2022-23: Was the most difficult year due to an injury in her knee which impacted her performance, especially in her breaststroke. Regardless, she came 4th at Nationals in the 50m breast with a personal record.
2021-22: Was a very promising year with hard practice and a lot of improvement in all breaststroke events (50, 100, 200 meters) including the 50m fly, and got a place in the podium in all her events. In that year her team won Nationals in 2 relays and came 2nd in one.
2020-21: A year with a lot of obstacles because of the pandemic, resulting to all pools staying locked for a long period of time. She was lucky enough to be allowed to swim as part of the Junior National team. Even though it was a difficult year, it was sure successful with medals in every event at Junior Nationals.
2019-20: Half of the year was great until the first lockdown, in which no pools were open for months. She did the best she could with 2 months of practice resulting to her coming 1st in the 100m breast and 2nd in the 50m breast during Junior Nationals.
2018-19: It was a very successful season considering it was the first year Sofia competed at the age of 15 in the Open Nationals finals. She came 1st in the 200m breast and 2nd in the 100 and 50m breast at Junior Nationals.

Like all our Swimmers, Sofia has been included in our Aquanex™ Program of Swimming Technique and Power Analysis and Improvement. Recording files and analysis reviews are available upon request.

PERSONAL

Sofia currently lives in Gerakas, Athens with her parents and sister. She followed after her dads steps and became a competitive swimmer just like him. Initially, she pursued gymnastics but swimming won her heart at the age of 12. She is currently in her Sophomore Year of College majoring in Psychology at the American College of Greece.
